I found that this helps..
With both Steps below open NotePad as Administrator and select All Files (*.*).
Prior to installation, add the following entries to your hosts file
C:WindowsSystem32driversetchosts
127.0.0.1 activation.cloud.techsmith.com
127.0.0.1 oscount.techsmith.com
127.0.0.1 updater.techsmith.com
127.0.0.1 camtasiatudi.techsmith.com
127.0.0.1 tsccloud.cloudapp.net
127.0.0.1 assets.cloud.techsmith.com
Then save it.
Then create a file in NotePad like below..
[RegistrationInfo]
RegisteredTo=NAME
RegistrationKey=BCMYC-LK5ZM-FXZCC-CMC99-553B3
ValidationData1=1
ValidationData2=1
ValidationData3=1
ValidationData4=1
ValidationData5=1
and save it as RegInfo.ini in C:ProgramDataTechSmithCamtasia Studio 8

Make sure you block the IP's in the HOST file BEFORE you run Camtasia and then it will show error saying it can't connect but you can continue to use it, then close it and the next time you run it you will have full unlocked version.

Thanks for the tip mate.. I did eventually get it to work another way on older version. I may try again like you said and see if this works with the newest version when I have time..

Just to let you know that you can skip this step and set the RegInfo file to readonly mode.
